Lead 3D/2D Animation Lighting/Rendering Look Dev

Project Overview

This project was a multi-company effort between Nomad and VMLY&R. At NOMAD, we created an extension of graphics that focused solely on the laptop itself. I wore many hats on this one doing 3D look dev, lighting/rendering, 3D animation, 2D animation, and compositing for shots 1,5,6,7,8,9,10.

2D Animation

Animated with anime style animation inspirations by using the puppet tool and shape layers in After Effects. The anime I grew up watching had a dorpped frame rate look that I wanted to emulate in this spot.

3D Animation & Comping

I animated, comped and rendered most of the shots in Cinema 4D using Redshift and After Effects. Imagery was provided by Dell and the agency.

3D Look Dev

Before we began to animate the spot , I finalized the textures and look for the end look of the product. I wanted to spend more time on the look.
